Port Houston Wharf 3 Renovation

Houston, Texas
Aggregate Technologies was on the job for the Port Houston Wharf 3 Renovation: wire sawing, core drilling, and slab sawing.

The project includes upgrading the dock to install new 100-foot gantry cranes. The new deck includes new foundations, fenders, hardware, electrical infrastructure, and utilities. Contractors are also laying the backbone for future electrical and telecom infrastructure.

The renovation required the existing dock to be removed. The overall concrete cut was 1000′ x 20′ wide and 22-29″ inches deep. The slab was cut into smaller sections for safe lift-out and removal. The removed concrete dock makes room for the upgraded foundation to support the new cranes and other upgrades.

The LASH dock* was also demolished. This included sections of the access bridges, dolphins, and dredging of the areas along the fender line. ATI wire sawed the cap and beams/piers, and core drilled the precast panel that made up the 18″ thick deck. Part of the job specification was no debris could fall into the water. This required extensive planning and execution but was handled safely and professionally by ATI’s crew.
